Counsellor and Practicing Midwife
Joanne is a BACP registered Counsellor and a practising Registered Midwife. She has over 30 years experience of working in the NHS in both the Midwifery and Nursing sectors. She also has counselling experience within the NHS and a mental health charity.

Currently practicing as a Counsellor and a Midwife, gives Joanne a unique insight into understanding the needs and feelings of women and their families throughout pregnancy and into parenthood. She has a special interest in emotional health and wellbeing surrounding pregnancy and believes that the need for good mental health during this period is a priority.

Pregnancy and the postnatal period is a time of profound change and adjustment, which at times can be overwhelming. Having the right support to help you through this will have a positive effect on the developing baby, the newborn infant and the family unit as a whole.

For those who discover that their baby is unwell in some way, or experience pregnancy loss, Joanne can provide a place to talk through the feelings that follow. It can be very beneficial to have professional support and understanding during such a difficult time.

The combined professional roles means that Joanne is well placed to offer understanding and support to those working in the Maternity services through a confidential counselling relationship. Joanne?s counselling practice is integrative drawing on different theoretical models in order to help each client with their own individual needs. She will offer you a safe, supportive and non-judgemental space in which to explore and understand your feelings, helping you to make changes and move forward in your life.

Jo offers sessions at The Practice Room in Westbury on Trym.
