Nichola Gascoigne - Counsellor

Founding Member and Counsellor

Nichola is a founding member of the Birth & Wellbeing Partnership and Fund, and is a BACP Registered Counsellor. She has over 20 years professional experience of working one-to-one with people from all walks of life. This has included massage therapy, NHS maternity care, and counselling; both privately and within a mental health charity.

She passionately believes that good care of parents during the childbearing phase has a significant positive impact on the mental health of the parents/carers and the development and nurture of family relationships.  In turn, the health and wellbeing of all children is strengthened,  supporting their development as they move into the wider community and embark upon their lives, making healthy relationships outside of their families of origin.

As well as working with women and partners, Nichola has a special interest in supporting maternity staff and students, and has personal experience of studying and working within the service.

Nichola works with you to consider and explore how you relate to others today – the choices that you make, and the ways in which you respond to challenge, loss or stress. Becoming aware of these influences, finding compassion for yourself, and exploring new perspectives with a non-judgmental, supportive counsellor, can help you to discover and harness inner resources which can promote positive change and enable you to better manage the challenges of your daily life, and to cope with the adjustments you need to make.
